글에서 잘되고 못된 것은 내게 달렸고 시비하고 칭찬하는 것은 남에게 있다 Whether writing be good or bad, that depends on the writer, but whether it should be praised, that's up to others.
This proverb from North Korea reminds the listener that the quality of writing depends wholly on the skill of the writer, while the criticism of that piece of writing should be left up to other people. It instructs us to concentrate on putting all our effort into the writing itself, or any other task, while advising against any boasting of how well (one thinks) it was done. (글을 잘 짓고 못 짓는 것은 전적으로 자신의 준비 정도와 재능에 달려 있는 것이지만 그 결과에 대한 평가는 다른 사람에게 달려 있다는 뜻으로, 자신은 그저 일이 잘되도록 있는 힘을 다할 뿐 자기가 한 일에 대하여 스스로 남 앞에서 잘되었다고 자랑하지 말라는 말)
