Ttukseom (뚝섬역) is a station on line 2 of the Seoul subway. It is next to Hanyang University Station and Seongsu Station.
[edit] General information
The station is located just to the south of the Han River, which must be crossed before Hanyang University Station. Ttukseom Station is located in a residential district and there is little of note. Ttukseom Station is one of the few place names in the country without corresponding hanja; however, the name Ttukseom does come from the old name of the place, known as "Dokdo", or 독도(纛島, embankment.island). Note that this hanja is not the same as the island of Dokdo (獨島, alone.island) in the East Sea/Sea of Japan that is a source of disagreement between Korea and Japan.
