1. 만 (萬) -- ten thousand.
This is a Sino-Korean word with no equivalent pure-Korean word. It is preceded by 구천구백구십구 and followed by 만일. When counting by thousands it is preceded by 구천 and followed by 만천. In Korean, 만 is used instead of 천 as a major counting unit.
- 일만 ten thousand
- 이만 twenty thousand
- 삼만 thirty thousand
- 사만 forty thousand
- 오만 fifty thousand
- 육만 sixty thousand
- 칠만 seventy thousand
- 팔만 eighty thousand
- 구만 ninety thousand
Afterwards, the use of 만 can become awkward for English speakers.

- 백만 one million (one hundred ten thousands)
- 천만 ten million (one thousand ten thousands)
The next highest counting unit is 억 (ten thousand ten thousands).
