This proverb insists that since even the wishes of the dead come true from time to time, albeit belatedly, how is it that the hopes of the living must always remain unfulfilled? (죽은 사람의 원도 풀어 주는데 하물며 산 사람의 청이야 어찌 풀어 줄 수 없겠느냐는 말.)
