The 2006 Seoul Sex Edu Expo was held in COEX, the main exhibition centre in Seoul located at Samseong Station in Gangnam, from August 31 to September 3. The admission fee was 15,000 won.
The expo quickly found itself under fire, as women's groups protested that it would promote sexism and the objectifiction of women's bodies. The most controversial -- and anticipated -- planned events had been the foreign models, strip shows, and nude photo shoots. The government, perhaps bowing to the pressure from protestors, barred all models from entering the country on the grounds that they had not obtained work permits (trying to arrive on tourist visas instead) just the day before they were set to arrive. The expo then became largely just an exhibition of sex toys and lingerie, with some educational programs.
