Anshim Station (안심역, ) is a station on line 1 of the Daegu subway. It is the last station on the line and the station preceding it is Gaksan Station. The area around the station is rather quiet and doesn't offer much in the way of business, services, or places of interest to most foreigners. The next stop down the line at Gaksan is only a 5 minute walk and has much more shopping and dining opportunities.

As Ansim Station is the last stop on the subway line, many Koreans commute back and forth to it from Hayang, northern Gyeongsan, Daegu University, Kyungil University, and Daegu Catholic University. Many Koreans also come to Ansim Station on the weekends to climb nearby Choryebong.

[edit] History

Ansim stands for 'safety' or 'security' in Korean. The name of the station was derived when two kings, Wanggeon and Gyeonhweon fought each other during the Gongsan Battle. Wanggeon fled to this area for security, hence the name.
