The Anyang Halla (안양한라아이스하키단) are an Asia League Ice Hockey team based in Anyang, and play their home games in the ice rink attached to the Anyang Sports Complex. Formed in 1994, the original name of the team was "Mando Winia", named after a sub-company of the Halla Group. It changed its name in 1998 to "Halla Winia", and was a powerhouse in the Korea Ice Hockey League, winning the league championship five times (95-96, 96-97, 97-98, 2000-01, and 2003).
When the KIHL folded, Halla Winia was the only company team that survived, absorbing talent from one of their rivals, the Don Won Dreams as they joined the Asia Ice Hockey League as a founding member. With the expiration of a sponsorship contract, the Anyang Halla Winia removed the Winia (the name of an air conditioner company) from their name beginning in the 2005-2006 year.
Tickets can be purchased at the rink on game day or online at http://www.sportsticket.co.kr/. Basic tickets for open seating (자유석) cost 6,000 won (4,000 for teens), or 7,000 for assigned seats (지정석); seats in the "Steff Hotdog Party Zone" are the closest to the ice, cost 10,000, and come with a free beer and hotdog. Cheerleaders sometimes perform between periods, and also cheer from the VIP sections. After the game, you can present your tickets to the Ronin bar across the street and get a generous discount.
