Bae (배) (also known as Asian Pear) is a fruit that looks like a very large apple with the yellow-orange-brown colouring of an overripe bartlett pear. The skin is thicker and rougher than a bartlett pear. The meat is as crisp as a juicy apple with the grittyness of a pear. The flavour is somewhere in between. They are typically prepared by removing the skin, and cutting them into eighths. The skin however, is delicious, though rumoured to be full of pesticides, which is why it is normally removed. They're great for hydration on a hot day.
They are available seasonally at most fruit markets and are rather expensive, sometimes running W3,000 each.
