Baekje existed from 18 BC to 660 AD in Southwestern Korea. It was one of the Three Kingdoms. In the earlier period its capital was located in various places in and around what is now Seoul. Later it was governed from Gongju and then from Buyeo. After a series of battles Baekje was absorbed by Shilla.
