The intersection at Banyawol Station.
Banyawol Station (반야월역) is a station on line 1 of the Daegu subway. It is next to Shingi and Gaksan Station.
Banyawol Station doesn't have many amenities in the immediate area and most residents usually go down the road to the Gaksan Station area for their needs. Banyawol Station is about a 10-15 minute walk away from former Banyawol Train Station. The intersection gets a lot of traffic flow as Ansim Bridge is just south from here stretching over the Geumho River enroute to Gyeongsan and the eastern limits of Daegu subway line 2.
[edit] History
The name is derived from the legend of King Wanggeon. In the end of Shilla Dynasty, Goryeo King Wanggeon had a fierce battle with Gyeonhweon of Baekje at the Battle of Gongsan. Wanggeon retreated through the local area and a bright moon lit up the road of his escape. So he named this area as "Banyawol", referencing 'midnight moon'.
