Bbikki (삐끼) is a derogatory term for the young men employed by booking clubs and nightclubs and stand out front on the street trying to lure customers into the nightclub, also called 호객꾼. The word comes from Japanese ひき(hiki), "to pull along." However, the term is only used in this case and is not considered to be very polite to the ears of men in this profession.
Bbikkis' compensation can vary but the club usually pays out a flat rate per person that they bring in to the club or a % of the tab. Some bikis in Gangnam and Jongno are known to make 4-5 million won/month.
