The Bundang Culture and Information Center (분당정보문화센터) is the second largest public library in Bundang, a district of the city of Seongnam. The library was first opened in 1999. It is located next to the KT Corporate Headquarters (KT본사) at 208 Jeongja-dong, in Bundang-gu. The library's telephone number is 031-718-5916.

[edit] Library Hours

The Bundang Culture and Information Center is open everyday except the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month. Hours vary by the section of the library.

  • The main library is open from 9am to 9pm on weekdays and from 9am 5pm on weekends. It closes an hour early on weekdays from November to February.
  • Public reading rooms are open from 7am to 10pm everyday, and from 7am to 8pm on public holidays.
  • All other facilities are open from 9am to 6pm on weekdays, and from 9am to 5pm on weekends.

[edit] Lending Policy

Patrons must be residents of the city of Seongnam in order to obtain a library card for taking out books. This can extend to people who only attend school in Seongnam or have their place of work there. One patron can take out a maximum of three books for a period of no more than two weeks. While there are no late fines, a patron who does not return books on time will be denied future service corresponding to the number of days a book was returned late.

  • Library (문헌정보실): Books can be browsed and checked out on the 3rd floor. There are also four seats for laptop computer users. Personal study is not permitted in this room.
  • Reading Room ((열람실): There are 3 reading rooms in the library with a total seating capacity of 490. Reading room one is on the 4th floor and is reserved for middle and high school students, while reading rooms 2 and three are for anyone to use. They are on the 4th and 5th floors, respectively. There is an additional reading room on the 1st floor for disabled persons, where they can use the library facilities comfortably.
  • Children's Library (어린이실·모자열람실): Books for elementary school students and below are located on the first floor. Parents and their children can come here to read children's stories as well as use the Internet, or the audio visual equipment. Books for children can be checked out here.
  • Periodicals Room (연속간행물실): The periodicals room is located on the 1st floor and carries a large variety of national, regional, and university newspapers; magazines and pamplets; as well as many foreign and domestic academic journals.
  • Computer Room (정자정보실): This room provides multimedia service for the library. There are about fifty computers available as well as facilities for notebook computers, DVDs, audio CDs, and a Video on Demand Service. It is located on the 2nd floor.
  • Cafeteria (식당): The cafeteria provides hot meals every day and is located in the basement. There is a convenience store located in the cafeteria as well.
  • Lockers: Lockers are available on the main floor and in the basement.
