Busan subway line 3

Busan Subway Line 3 (coloured brown) is a line in the metro system in Busan. The line will be 31.0 km long, with one Automated Guideway Transit branch line.

Construction began in november 1997. Opening of the main line has been delayed many times, but line 3 finally started service on November 28, 2005 (18.3 km). The AGT branch is scheduled to open in 2009.

Details

Busan Subway Line 3 began construction in 1996. The first phase was from Suyeong station (stn no. 301) to Daejeo (stn no. 317), 17 stations, 18.3 kilometers long, with two car depots. The second phase (or AGT branch) will be from Minam to Anpyeong (from construction site no. 321 to 327), 14 stations, 12.7km long, with one car depot. The construction of the first phase was completed in 2005. The second phase will be completed by 2008.

The entire construction costs 2150.5 billion won, first phase costing 1688.6 billion won, second phase costing 46.19 billion won.

After the large subway accident in Daegu, the [Busan Urban Trasit Authority http://subway.busan.kr/eng/index.html] decided to set screen doors on all platforms in the Line 3.
