Byeongsan-seowon is located in Byeongsan-dong, Pungcheon-myeon, Andong-shi, Gyeongsangbuk-do. It's about five kilometers east of Hahoe village, and situated right next to the Nakdong River. This Confucian academy memorializes Yu Seong-nyong (유성룡)(1542-1607), a disciple of Yi Hwang. It was one of the 67 seowons not destroyed in 1868 during the government's anti-Confucian purges. It was established on that site in 1572 by the aforementioned Yu, previously existing as Pungak Seodang in Pungsan-myeon, though most of the buildings were constructed after Yu's death by his students.
The nearby Mandaeru Pavilion looks out over the Nakdong River and the hills beyond.
Transportation
Bus No. 46 leaves Andong a couple times daily and goes to the seowon. Or, walk to Hahoe and take a bus from there. (That bus runs more frequently though there's still not a lot of them.) Nearest train station is at Andong.
