COEX is the largest underground mall in Korea. It is located in Seoul, out exit 6 from Samseong Station on line 2. COEX is not only an underground mall but also a large centre for events both local and international. The Red Cross held a week-long conference on the north side of the area November 2005 for the 100th anniversary of its founding in Korea.
COEX includes an aquarium, a large movie theatre (Megabox), numerous coffee shops including Starbucks, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Pascucci's, and others. Gaming events are often held in the mall as well, and at any time one can find wireless access with numerous networks.
Bongeunsa (봉은사) temple is located just across the street from the north entrance.
[edit] Transportation to COEX
Limousine buses from Incheon International Airport: platforms 3B and 10B go straight to the Korea City Air Terminal, one of the buildings in COEX. The only stop on the way after the airport is Samsung Station, only about 100 metres from the final destination. The departure times for buses from the airport to COEX start at 5:30 am and finish at 22:30, and those going from COEX to the airport start at 5:20 and end at 20:00. The cost is 13,000 won, buses leave every 10 to 15 minutes, and the trip takes 60 minutes.
The closest station to COEX on the line 7 is Cheongdam-dong Station, and getting off there to walk to COEX takes less time than that it would take to change to the line 3 and then 2. Walking south for a bit over 5 minutes will bring one to the north side of the mall.
