Casinos in South Korea are popular establishments for tourists and the foreign community in Korea, however, the government has restricted Koreans from gambling there. Only foreigners are allowed to enter. The lone exception for Koreans to gamble at a casino is Kangwon Land Resort and Casino.
Despite the govermental curbs to moderate gambling in Korea, alternatives have sprouted in abundance, such as online gambling, adult game rooms, horse racing, greyhound racing, boat racing, and motorbike racing. While the operators of these establishments and events tend to promote the image of sport and entertainment, these establishments and activities would probably not be very popular were it not for them possessing low-key, but prevalent gambling elements.
