Celadon Culture Festival
Modern celadon on display

Celadon Culture Festival (청자문화제) is a popular festival held in Daegu-myeon, Gangjin county, Jeollanam-do. It is held in autumn or late-summer to celebrate the region's tradition of celadon pottery-making. The 2008 festival will be held from August 9 to August 17. Admission to the festival is free.

Guests can tour the local Celadon Museum and a number of excavated celadon kilns (가마터). Those interested can make their own pottery. Other activities and sights include: 5 and 10 kilometer marathons; Foreigners' Day; a flower garden; numerous exhibitions of celadon produced by local students and residents; concerts featuring traditional and contemporary Korean music; an outdoor display of robots; and a number of tea houses, restaurants, and food stalls. Guests can also have their picture impressed on a sheet of Korean postage stamps. Additionally, there is a Foreigners' Cafe set up near the entrance that can offer multilingual assistance.
