Chilgok (칠곡군, , lacquer.valley.county) is a county in Gyeongsangbuk-do. The population as of 2004 was 109,416, including:

  • 106,475 Koreans and
  • 2,941 non-Koreans.

The seat of government is in Waegwan-eup.

To the east of the county is the county of Gunwi and the city of Daegu, to the west is the county of Seongju and the city of Gimcheon, to the south is the city of Daegu, and to the north is the city of Gumi.

There are a number of mountains in the east part of the county, such as Gasan (가산, 架山:902m), Hwanghaksan (황학산, 黃鶴山:782m), Sohaksan (소학산, 巢鶴山:622m), Yuhaksan (유학산, 遊鶴山:839m), Geumosan (금오산, 金烏山:977m), Yeongamsan (영암산, 鈴岩山:782m) and Seojinsan (서진산, 棲鎭山:742m).

The county is located in the southern continental region of the county and lacks the moderating influence of the sea. The average yearly temperature is 12.8℃, the average in January is -2.1℃, and the average in August is 26.5℃. The average yearly precipitation is 993.9mm.
