Chungjangno

Chungjangno (충장로) is a long street in Dong-gu, Gwangju, city that is also the name of the surrounding commercial district. It is most easily accessible by Gwangju subway line 1 stops Docheong and Geumnamno 4-ga. It intersects with Geumnamno, the financial center of Gwangju, to form a vibrant and youthful area.

There are several blocks of boutiques, clothing stores, and department stores. Korean food and Western food is plentiful, and TGIFridays, Outback, McDonald's, and Burger King are near.

As can be expected, there are a large number of bars, hofs, and clubs. Mike and Dave's Speakeasy and Soul Train are two of the most popular foreigner bars. Several of the other clubs in the area---booking clubs, night clubs, and business clubs---are not foreigner-friendly, so they are best avoided.

금남로지하상가, a large underground shopping center, is in the area. It can be reached from Docheong and Geumnamno 5-ga stations.
