Costco is a discount wholesaler with 5 locations in Korea. A North American Costco membership is valid at Korean stores. Shopping at Costco is a great alternative to what you will find at E-Mart and Home Plus, mainly because they stock imported goods from the west. For food, Costco is a great place to shop for steaks, cheeses, bagels, herbs and spices, to even Campbell's Chunky Soup and good beef jerky. It's also good for shopping for home appliances that might prove cheaper than what you can find at Korean department stores.

[edit] Membership
It requires a membership to shop at Costco. For business owners, a lifetime membership costs 30,000won. For everyone else, the card is 35,000won. The membership card is good at any Costco location in the world. Note: They take a picture of you for the card, so you can't loan the card to someone else to use. Also, despite the membership form indicating that they will accept either your foreigner registration number or passport number, they will not allow someone to create a membership without an ARC.
