Daeyeonpyeong-do (대연평도) is an island northwest of Incheon, close to North Korea and larger than its neighbour, Soyeonpyeong-do. The two of them are in Yeonpyeong-myeon, Ongjin-gun, Incheon. A number of sea battles in between the North and the South have occurred near the island and for a time in 1999 crab hunting was forbidden because of an altercation between the two countries.
