Dasan Chodang (다산 초당) is in Gangjin county, Jeollanam-do. It was the 12-year place of internal exile for 19th-century writer Jeong Yak-yong, penname 다산. He reportedly took this penname from the tea (茶) that grew on the mountain (山)
On site are two memorial houses, a pavillion, a thatched-cottage, and a pond. A short distance away is Dasan's Relic Exhibition Hall.
Dasan Chodang is located on the foothills of Mandeoksan, and there are hiking trails that connect Dasan's house with Baengnyeonsa, one of Dasan's favorite temples in the region. Visitors can also view the Camellia Forest of Baengnyeonsa Temple, a grove of several thousand trees, as well as small tea fields near Baengnyeonsa temple.
