Ddeokguk ddeok (떡국떡) is sliced diagonally from hard rice-cake cylinders known as garae-ddeok. It is usually white from plain rice but on holidays may be made with mugwort or other coloring agents. This rice cake is the main ingredient of ddeokguk.
