Diamond Pines of Uljin

A large grove of Geumgang or Diamond Pines (금강소나무) can be found in So-gwang-ni in Seo-myeon, Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

  • Area: 16.1 sq. kms.
  • Age: 30 to 500 years
  • Latin name: Pinus densiflora for. erecta Uyeki
  • Local name: Chunyangmok (춘양목)

P. densiflora, of which this is a Korean variety, is known as the Japanese Red Pine and is native to Japan, Korea, Manchuria, and nearby parts of Siberia.
