Docheong Station (도청역) is a station on line 1 of the Gwangju subway. It is between Geumnamno 4-ga and Namgwangju Station.
Exiting from gate 3 of Docheong Station will put you in the Chungjangno district of Gwangju. It is a trendy area of town similar to Myeongdong in Seoul. Though not terribly large, it is labyrinthine, and one can easily get lost. In the middle, at the intersection of the main pedestrian areas, is a post office with a small stage, which can serve as a landmark.
Places of interest for visitors include:
- Coffee shops: Starbucks, Mackie's of Scotland, Kenya, Dunkin Donuts, Paris Baguette (the one in the center of Chungjangno has a cafe on the 2nd floor).
- Foreigner bars: Mike and Dave's Speakeasy, Soul Train.
- Movie theatres: There are 3 movie theatres.
- Shopping: There are scores of boutiques selling brandname clothing, shoes, and athletic ware. There is also 금남로지하상가, a large underground shopping center.
- Western fast-food restaurants: Burger King, KFC, McDonald's.
- Western sit-down restaurants: TGI Friday's, Outback.
