EFL-Law is a website that promotes the legal awareness of working abroad in the EFL industry. Although the site offers assistance and advice for teachers working in any country, much of EFL-Law's content and discussion forums are centered around Korea, given the size of the teacher workforce employed in that country.
Some QA with the EFL-Law's site owner, Paul Robertson:
- GJ: How long has EFL-Law been around for?
“ EFL-Law began in about 1999”
~ EFL-Law
- GJ: What is your professional background and experience in the EFL industry?
“ I practiced law in London and Sydney till I retired in 1990 (made my money and intended to play gold for ever -hahah). Got a doctorate in Education, so that helps.”

- GJ: What would you say are the principles of why you founded EFL-Law?
“Jeff Lebow at Pusanweb asked me to set up a one page Law site to help teachers with some basic questions way back - that is how it started -- and got bigger.”

- GJ: What are some tangible and realistic near-term goals that you hope to achieve with EFL-Law?
“Hopefully by spreading information teachers will be armed with knowledge - which will stop dishonest employers from screwing them over -- that i think is working more or less these days -- to some small degree at least.”

- GJ: What are some notable success stories that you've had with the industry?
“As Efl-law is still really a hobby horse, and given the strict Bar rules in Korea (which many foreign lawyers flout but I stay clear off) I always refer genuine cases over to Pusan Law where I used to work back in 1999 - success stories are many -usally in the industrial realm -- unfair dismisals with teachers get good pay outs -some good results in criminal cases (drug matters) - but in law, the old addage applies, no one wins except the lawyers! ”

- GJ: How long have you been in Korea?
~ EFL-Law
- GJ: How did you end up in Korea?
“I was working in Charles University Prague when my Canadian colleauge from Prague came to Korea to work as a attorney and he suggested I come over - I did - but had enough of law -so with a PhD it's easy to find fairly good jobs (despite my age).”

- GJ: What is one aspect of Korea life that you've fallen in love with, but you can't get back home?
“The pace of life -- always something happening!! My home town has 500 people !! Fishing (catching a fish) is the most exciting daily event.”
