[edit] Just in case you guys don't know
Special:Wantedpages is a good special page to look at when you're not sure what you want to write next. Every time there is a red link on a page somewhere it gets counted and you can see topics that have the most red links. Writing a page for one of those will make a few hundred red links blue and is usually the best indication of which topics are most needed at present. mithridates aka 데이빛 12:33, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Whole wheat bread
I love to bake bread, but have yet to find a source of whole wheat flour here in Korea. I have white flour, yeast and an oven. I do have some very coarse rolled oats.
Now I need bread pans and whole grain flours. I have looked at the idea of ordering a small electric or hand-powered grain mill from the U.S., but that's pretty pricey.
I am living in Daegu. Does anyone know of a source, and what the Korean word for these ingredients is?
Thanks!

- Try Costco in Daegu for all of that.--Galbijim 06:01, 13 December 2006 (CET)
[edit] Banning/Blocking
Although we don't have the gobs of traffic that makes it difficult for us to contend with spam issues, a few notes should be raised. We're still at a slow enough pace that things don't need to be banned/blocked on a kneejerk basis. It it's machine spam, then of course that gets a ban. But I don't think we need to give those IPs an infinite ban. Reason being is that in the future when we are more trafficked, we might get normal users coming here and registering, but prefer to use proxies. Because of the glut of IPs and likely proxies that we'll be banning over time, regarding machine spammers, this might make them unable to access this site. They might put two and two together and realize that the proxy is the problem, but I'd personally rather not have us outright ban all spammer IPs indefinitely. A month is good. We have the spamblacklist page to ensure that spammers dropping spam URLs cannot be repeat offenders with the same URL. As for the legit, human spam that obviously looks to be Korean-centric (like what we had today with that bar promoter in Busan), I think those will be case by case and should be brought up here in the Community Portal for discussion, to decide a course of action.-User:Galbijim
[edit] Random Page
Just curious: Is there one "Random page" per day? Smee 14:19, 17 December 2006 (CET)
- No, it should take you to a different one each time.--Hater Depot 07:20, 3 January 2007 (CET)
[edit] What to do now...
I want to teach English in Korea. I haven't graduated yet, but I'm going to this summer. Still, I want to do all I can to prepare myself and speed up the process while I'm here in Korea with all this time on my hands. I was thinking about doing some of the visa stuff, but I'm going to need aproval from the school I want to teach at right? And for that I need my diploma. At least, I think so. I went to a few schools on Chong street in Seoul, but they all told me that they don't do interviews on the spot. Should I just study Korean, eat bi bim bop, and wait until I graduate?
- You're going to need your diploma and sealed transcripts from your university, both of which might not be available immediately upon graduation. Sometimes, they are issued a certain amount of months after. You'll need to check with your registrar's office about that. Also, you can read everything that you need to prepare for, by reading our ESL in Korea guide. As for advice, I'd personally recommend enrolling in a Korean language program and going hard on that.--Galbijim 09:45, 3 January 2007 (CET)
I've been thinking for a while that it might be a good idea to have one page to and from every destination. Each destination has its own special routes and having the name "x to x" would make it very easy to find eventually as the person would just have to type in destination a, "to", and destination b. Seoul to Daejeon is just a sample but eventually it would be nice to see articles like this with pictures and maybe tips on how to get from one place to another faster. There are millions of possible combinations but there are also millions of possible pages for just about everything in Korea so we might as well. mithridates aka 데이빛 06:14, 23 February 2007 (CET)
There's obvious a new rash of spam going around on wikis that are able to circumvent past spam deterrents. Next week, we'll be installing a new mediawiki extension that will require the user to type in a password (embedded in CAPTCHA image) to confirm that the edit is being made by a human and not by a bot. This confirmation will only be triggered for when a user has added a URL as part of their edit. As for preventing false new accounts or the vandal edits that don't have URLs in it, we'll still need to manually revert and delete for now. Long-term, we might deploy a form of open proxy blocking once we move to the dedicated server when the commercial sister site is done. Thanks for the continued reverts! :)--Galbijim 07:40, 14 April 2007 (CEST)
[edit] Digital Cameras
Hey,
I am moving to Seoul in a week to teach English, and I am going to want to have a digital camera while I am there. Digital cameras in Seattle cost between $140 and $200 USD (usually 7.1 megapixels, and the memory is extra). I would like to know how much digital cameras cost in South Korea, and whether it is worth buying on when I get out there. The only advantage of buying the camera here is that I'd get to take pictures of the airplane, airport, and stuff right when I arrive. You can put your answer here, on my talk page, or just email me -- rosswmartin !!at!! Gmail's emailing service.Zweifel 04:31, 18 May 2007 (CEST)
- Those prices you mentioned are comparable to the low-end ones in Korea, so its not that much of a better deal over here. Also, it's illegal to take pics of the airplane and airport, after arriving. I did that when I first arrived and a security guard stopped me. You can take pics of the approach while in the air, but that's about it.--Galbijim 02:46, 19 May 2007 (CEST)

The general disclaimer page mentions mentions the GFDL. Which version of the GFDL applies to the articles and pictures in the Galbijim Wiki?
