- Pingteok is a delicious buckwheat flour wrap found only on Jeju, or so I'm told. I've read that it's fried on the griddle with lard. But the lovely lady I buy it from near the Dongmun Market bus stop says she uses corn oil. And I sure don't taste anything porcine in this. The buckwheat flour is made into a thin pancake, cooked for a minute or so, then some shredded cooked giant white radish mixed with sesame seeds is rolled up inside. Wonderful but I can't eat more than a couple because it seems buckwheat is hard for me to digest. The soy-sauce for dipping is a common dip for everyone, including those that come by to eat the non-vegetarian odeng. Pingteok is apparently only a cold-weather food.
