Gamjatang

Gamjatang (감자탕) is a soup made from a pig's spine simmered up in it's own broth, with a good deal of spices added, and various vegetables, which may include potatoes (gamja/감자). It's a matter of contention whether the soup's name comes from the word "감자" meaning "potato".

This meal is generally cooked at your table out of a communal wok type pan, and then one takes a bit at a time in a smaller individual bowl which will be provided.

Don't be turned off by the fact that this dish is in fact, based around the backbone of a pig. The backbone is the root of the ribs, so the meat around is essentially just ribs.
