Gunpo (군포시, 軍浦市, military.harbour.city) is a city in Gyeonggi-do. The population as of 2004 was 278,680, including:
- 275,761 Koreans and
- 2,919 non-Koreans.

Seoul subway line 1, which connects Seoul with Cheonan, passes through the town, as does Line 4, which intersects with Line 1 at Geumjeong Station. In addition, the city is home to Gunpo Station, which stands on the Gyeongbu Line which runs between Seoul and Busan.
Gunpo is located in a very small area and it is easy to overlook the fact that stations such as Sanbon Station are not located in Anyang, which is only three stops away. The city of Ansan just to the south is also slightly more well-known. One reason for this may be that Gunpo Station itself is not located in a particularly nice area, and that other nicer stations in the city do not have the name 'Gunpo' attached to them.
[edit] Climate

The climate in Gunpo is almost no different from that in Seoul. It is slightly closer to the ocean. The average temperatures in January and August are -3.2℃ and 26℃, respectively. The annual precipitation is 1,284mm.
[edit] Education
Hansei University is located in the city.
The city's motto (큰시민 작은도시, or "big people, small city") also shows a recognition of its small size. The population density in this small area, however, is quite large.
[edit] Restaurants and Bars
[edit] Restaurants
As the average Korean, Japanese, and Chinese restaurants are in abundance throughout Korea and are easy for foreigners to find, the following restaurants reflect a sampling of restaurants considered to be either popular or are western-friendly choices and other ethnic foods.
