Gurogongdan Station (구로공단역) was the name of Guro Digital Complex Station (구로디지털단지역) before it changed in 2004. This was due to the fact that for a long time factories that had once been located in the area had closed down, and a number of new apartments and high-tech companies had moved in, making the name gongdan (공단, 工團, an industrial complex or park) untenable. The name of the area changed around the year 2000 and the station followed suit afterwards.
