Gwacheon (과천시, 果川市, fruit.river.city) is a city in Gyeonggi-do. The population as of 2004 was 68,641, including:

Gwacheon is one of a plethora of cities around Seoul in the capital region. Gwacheon has a large number of parks and high mountains.

Besides Seoul to the north side of the city Anyang is located to the west, Seongnam is on the east, and to the south is the city of Uiwang.
Some of the mountains in the city include Gwanaksan (관악산, 冠岳山:629m) after which Gwanak Station is named, Eungbong (응봉, 鷹峰:348m), and Cheonggyesan (청계산, 淸溪山:618m).
The climate in Gwacheon is the same as that in Seoul. The average yearly temperature is 11.3℃.
There is a large branch of the federal government located in Gwacheon, and depending on the division one may have to go there to accomplish certain tasks (not immigration, however, which is located at Omokgyo Station and a few others).

Gwacheon is a mere 5 subway stops from Sadang Station, where you can transfer to the line that will connect you 4 more stops to Gangnam Station, a major hub of dining and nightlife in Seoul. Also, Gwacheon is 10 stops away from the line that connects you to Itaewon.
