A gyopo is a term for any Korean living abroad with non Korean Citizenship, which comes from the word 'haewae gyopo' (해외교포 海外僑胞), which signifies a person of the same genetic stock living abroad.
Gyopos in Korea are able to obtain an F-4 visa, similar to some of the visas issued in European countries to people who are able to claim direct lineage. The F-4 visa gives a person nearly the same rights and responsibilities as a Korean citizen except voting and military duty, and the F-4 visa holder is able to work anywhere without fear of repercussion.
