Hanam (하남시) is a city in Gyeonggi-do. The population as of 2004 was 131,565, including:

  • 129,903 Koreans and
  • 1,662 non-Koreans.

The city is on the border with the Gangdong-gu and Songpa-gu area of Seoul and thus is not an inconvenient location to live in. Most of the citizens of the city work in Seoul as well. As well as Seoul on the west, the Han River is to the north, and the Gwangju Mountains begin in the south. Some of the mountains there include Cheongnyangsan (청량산, 480m), Gaeksan (객산, 291m), Geumamsan (금암산, 310m), Geomdansan (검단산,657m), and Duribong (두리봉, 596m).

Other cities bordering Hanam are Namyangju, Gwangju, and Seongnam.

The climate of the city is the same as that in Seoul: the average yearly temperature is around 10℃, the average in January is -4℃, and the average in August is 26℃. The average yearly precipitation is also around 1,300 mm.

Hanam is a 15-20 minute bus ride away from Cheonho Station, which then puts you 4 stops away from the popular Jamsil Station area, or 9 stops (with a line transfer) to Gangnam Station. 11 stops on the line that Cheonho Station is on (Seoul Subway Line 5), will put you in the heart of central Seoul.
