Hapcheon (합천군, 陜川郡, narrow.river.county) is a county in Gyeongsangnam-do. The population as of 2004 was 58,210, including:

Hapcheon is located at 128°22′ East, and 35°48′ North. It is located in the mountainous region in the north part of the county. To the east is the county of Changnyeong, to the southeast is the county of Uiryeong, to the nourth are the counties of Seongju and Goryeong, to the southwest is the county of Sancheong, and to the west is the county of Geochang.
72.4% of the county is mountainous. Some of the mountains in the county include Gayasan (가야산, 1,430m), Durisan (두리봉, 1,133m), Namsan (남산, 1,113m), Isangbong (이상봉, 1,046m), Bigyesan (비계산, 1,126m), Dumusan (두무산, 1,038m), and Odosan (오도산, 1,134m).
22.2% of the county is below 100 metres, 48.6% is from 100 to 300 metres, 18% is from 300 to 500 metres, 10.8% is from 500 to 1000 metres, and 0.3% is above 1000 metres.
The county is in the southern continental climate region. The average yearly temperature is 12.8℃. The lowest temperature ever recorded was -13.9℃, and the highest was 39.2℃.
According to one article, more than 70% of the Korean victims of the atomic bombs dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II were from Hapcheon.

"Ten percent of the hundreds of thousands of victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were Korean. Most of them were forced laborers making guns and ammunition in the factories of the Japanese military. Others were landless farmers, mostly from Hapcheon, looking for employment in Japanese cities," says Kang Je Suk.
