Hongjesa (Bonghwa)

Hongjesa is a Buddhist temple in Goseon-ni, Socheon-myeon, Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do. This temple is reputed to have been built either by the priest Jajangyulsa during the reign of Jinpyeongwang or else by Wonhyodaesa during the adminstration of King Munmu. A fire during the early 1960's destroyed some valuable portrait scrolls. In 1966 the temple was repaired.

Up the valley from Hongjesa are the monasteries Baeknyeonam and Dorsoram.

The temple is reached by taking a side road about three kilometers, branching off of Route 31, several kms. north of Route 36.
