[edit] Restaurants
As the average Korean, Japanese, and Chinese restaurants are in abundance throughout Korea and are easy for foreigners to find, the following restaurants reflect a sampling of restaurants considered to be either popular or are western-friendly choices and other ethnic foods.
[edit] Shopping
- Icheon Kong Panjang is a fair-sized supermarket located in the basement under the Joong-Ang Shijang, with access from the main street on the north side. One feature of this place is the good selection of bulk products - 3 kg. packages of cheonggukjang (if anyone has a use for that much....) And #10 cans at good prices - A restaurant-size can of sphaghetti sauce goes for just a bit over 5,000 won. Often in Korea one pays close to that for a small jar.....
- E-Mart is located out in the northeast corner of Icheon's urban area, along Highway 70.
- Many of the popular chain clothing shops are located on a road one block north of the main road, paralleling it, from the Catholic cathedral to near the bus terminal.
- World Mart sells Chinese and Southeast Asian foodstuffs. It is located on the road running along the south side of the Express Bus Terminal
[edit] Public markets
- JoongAng Shijang in downtown Icheon, a couple blocks west of the bus station, consists of a large building full of clothing stalls, with some food stalls along the sidewalk in front.
- Icheon Shijang is a couple blocks north and a little west.
- The whole of downtown seems like a shijang sometimes - there are stalls and folks selling things along the sidewalks in many areas, coming and going depending on the time of day.
