Jangheung (장흥군, , long.rise.county) is a county in Jeollanam-do. The population as of 2004 was 46,735, including:

  • 167 non-Koreans.

Jangheung is located at 126°47′~ 127°02′ East, and 34°25′~ 34°52′ North. To the east is the county of Boseong, to the west are the counties of Gangjin and Yeongam, to the north is the county of Hwasun, and to the south is the Dado Sea, the Boseong Bay, the island of Wan-do and the Goheung Peninsula.

The north of the county has a few mountains: some of them include Jeamsan (제암산, 779m), Gajisan (가지산, 506m), Guksabong (국사봉, 613m), and Cheongwansan (천관산, 723m).

Some of the rivers in the county include the Tamjin River, the Jeongjacheon, the Geum River, the Goeupcheon and the Namseongcheon.

The average yearly temperature is 13.2℃, the average in January is 1.7℃, and the average in August is 24.3℃. The average precipitation is 1,326 mm per year.

Transportation

Jangheung is served by 장흥시외버스터미널, Jangheung Bus Terminal, in Jangheung-eup. Buses depart to Seoul, Gwangju, Busan, Mokpo, and other metropolitian cities daily.

The nearest international airport is in Gwangju, and the nearest domestic airports are in Mokpo and Yeosu.

Slogan and mascot

The English slogan for Jangheung is "Powerful Jumping*Green Jangheung," and the mascot is a cartoon mushroom.
