Jangheung-eup is one of 3 eup in Jangheung county, Jeollanam-do. It has an area of 55.96 square kilometers, and in 2001 it had a population of 17,142.

  • There is a large market held each Saturday morning until 11 am. In the surrounding area there are many restaurants and tea houses---as well as statues of mushrooms, the county emblem---and there are frequently musical performances held throughout the day.
  • The Tamjin River flows through Jangheung-eup, and there is a small recreational area along the river between the market and "downtown." As of fall, 2006, extensive construction is underway to expand this recreational area. There is a pedestrian bridge that spans the river, connecting the market to the rest of Jangheung-eup.
