Jangseong (장성군, , long.castle.county) is a county in Jeollanam-do. The population as of 2004 was 50,755, including:

  • 50,200 Koreans and
  • 555 non-Koreans.

Jangseong is located at 126°35′~ 126°56′ East, and 35°11′~ 35°29′ North. It is 20 km from east to west, and 36 km from north to south. It is located along the southwest side of the country. The average yearly temperature is 12.6℃, the average temperature in January is -1.5℃, and the average temperature in August is 26.3℃. The average yearly precipitation is 1,296 mm.

Jangseong is located along the northern side of the county. To the east is the county of Damyang, to the west is the county of Yeonggwang, to the south is the city of Gwangju and the county of Hampyeong and to the north are the counties of Sunchang and Gochang as well as the city of Jeongeup, all in the province of Jeollabuk-do. Being connected with the city of Gwangju has had a large influence on Jangseong.

The Noryeong Mountains go through the county, and some of the mountains there include Ibamsan (입암산, 654m), Buldaesan (불대산, 630m), Bangjangsan (방장산, 743m), and Munsusan (문수산, 620m).
