Jayu Park (자유공원) is a park in Incheon on the shore of the West Sea, the first Western-style park to have been built in the country. It was built in 1888 by a group of foreign residents from the United States, England, and China and was then named Manguk Park (만국공원); during the Japanese colonial period it was called Suh Park (소공원), and it was given its present name after the Korean War.
Today the park boasts a statue of General Douglas MacArthur and several other statues and works of art including a tower, called the Centennial Monument, built to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Amity and Trade Treaty of 1882 between the US and Korea. It also is home to the Incheon Meterological Observatory.
