Jeongeup (정읍시, 井邑市, well.town.city) is a city in Jeollabuk-do. The population as of 2004 was 133,018, including:

Jeongeup is located at 127°07′∼126°43′ East, 35°27′∼35°45′ North. It holds a position in between the larger cities of Jeonju and Gwangju, and is a central location in the area that connects to the Yellow Sea / West Sea. To the east are the counties of Imshil and Wanju, to the west are the counties of Buan and Gochang, to the north is the city of Gimje, and to the south are the counties of Sunchang and Jangseong, the lattel being located in the province of Jeollanam-do.
Jeongeup is located on the western side of the Noryeong Mountains.
Jeongeup has a somewhat continental climate, and during the winter one generally finds around three cold days followed by four warmer ones, in a continuous cycle. The average yearly temperature is 14.1℃, and the average yearly precipitation is 1,246mm. The average temperature in January is 1.2℃, and that in July is 26℃. The highest recorded temperature was in August 1990 with 37.5℃, and the
lowest was in January 1974 at -14.4℃. The average wind speed over the year is 1.2 m/sec.
