Jinan (진안군, 鎭安郡, subdued.peace.county) is a county in Jeollabuk-do. The population as of 2004 was 30,877, including:

To the north of Jinan is the county of Muju, to the south is the county of Jangsu, to the west is the county of Wanju, to the southwest is the county of [[Imshill], and to the north is the county of Geumsan in the province of Chungcheongnam-do.

This population decrease began in the 1970s with industrialization and urbanization.
The county is located in between the Noryeong Mountains and the Sobaek Mountains, and 80.22% of it is mountainous. It is located at 127°16'∼127°38' East, and 35°37'∼36°02' North.
The area is strongly affected by seasonal winds, giving it a hot summer season and cold and dry winters. The average yearly temperature is 12~13℃, and the average precipitation is 1,200 - 1,300 mm per year. The county also receives a range of 1,634 - 2,153 hours of sunshine per year. The first snowfall usually falls during the beginning of April, and the last snow generally ends around the 20th of April.
