Jukjeon

Jukjeon (죽전) is an area in Yongin city, Suji-gu, Gyeonggi-do that is comprised of Jukjeon 1-dong and Jukjeon 2-dong. It is predominantly a residential area with a size of 5.8 square kilometers and a population of 72,188 [1].

In 2008 Jukjeon will be served by the Bundang Line of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway, when Jukjeon Station at the E-Mart opens. Like the subway station, much of the area is currently under construction, which means Jukjeon will see several new apartment complexes and stores in the coming years.

Recreation

Tancheon stream runs from Suji-gu to Seoul, cutting through apartment complexes in Jukjeon along the way. There are bicycle and pedestrian paths along the stream, with small exercise areas at short intervals. Near the E-Mart is a small outdoor climbing wall and skate park.

Restaurants and Shopping

Jukjeon has an E-Mart and a Shinsegye department store that was opened on the 15th of April, 2007.

Korean food is obviously plentiful, and as for Westernized food there is a VIPS steakhouse and a Lotteria. Kyochon Chicken is among the several fried chicken restaurants.

Transportation

Until Jukjeon Station opens, the easiest way to reach Jukjeon via subway is to walk from Ori Station. Also, it is possible to reach Jukjeon by walking along Tancheon stream, although portions are blocked off due to the construction of new stores and apartments.

Buses run to the Jukjeon E-Mart from Migeum, and in 2008 Jukjeon Station will be connected to it.
