Established in 1947, Kangwon National University is the leading university in Gangwon-do. The University is located in the city of Chuncheon.

The campus has two main gates - the rear gate (located on the north side) opens on to a neighborhood featuring the kinds of business that students typically patronize. Chains along the north side of the road include Lotteria, Baskin-Robbins, and Paris Baguette. On the south side of the road, to the left of the rear gate one may find Hyeong (Tel: 255-1517), a restaurant serving a plethora of cheap dishes - small portions but their quality is higher than at many places of this type. A few door down is Oli Oli, with juice and pizza for 1,000 won a glass or slice.
The front gate, on the south side, also has some of these business but less so than on the north.

The Kangwon National University Post Office is located in the Student Union building - to the left as one enters from the front.
