Kim Yun-sik (1903-1950) is a well-known poet from Gangjin county, Jeollanam-do. He participated in the Korean independence movement as a teenager, was jailed for six months in Daegu, and lived in Japan from 1920-1923, where he lived with Pak Yeol. He died on September 29, 1950 in Seoul, the result of a bullet wound to the stomach during the Korean War.
Under the penname Yeongrang, he was especially active in literature during the 1930s and 1940s. He is best known for writing in the unique dialect of Jeolla province.
His birthplace (영랑생가), where he spent a significant portion of his life, is located in Gangjin county.
