The Korea Times (한국일보, 韓國日報) is a daily newspaper, the oldest to have an English edition. The company also publishes the Sports Hankook and Seoul Economic Daily.
Founded on November 1, 1950, its coverage includes politics, society, business, finance, culture and sports. In recent years, The Korea Times has begun to publish weekly "Embassy Row" and "Foreign Community" sections, as well as a weekender on Fridays. It also publishes licensed content from the Los Angeles Times World Report and The New York Times.
Despite its longer history, it has lost readers in recent years to both The Korea Herald and the Joongang Daily, which is sold together with The International Herald Tribune. Ongoing financial difficulties[1] have lead to a weakening of its distribution network.
The Korea Times continues to use the old McCune-Reischauer romanization for Korean place names, such as Pusan and Taegu, instead of the official revised romanization.
The current president and publisher of The Korea Times is Park Moo-jong.[2]
