• Baekryeonsa - in Gangjin-eup. Hiking trails connect it to Dasan Chodang, Dasan's house of exile, and some suggest that Baekryeonsa was an inspiration behind Dasan's writings on Korean Buddhism.
• Baekyangsa - in Jangseong county, one hour from Gwangju. It is one of the head temples of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism.
• Banghwasa (Gangjin) - in Gangjin county
• Bongjeongsa (Jangseong) - in Jangseong county
• Beopcheonsa - in Muan county. Two national treasures were extraced from this historic site and are now housed at museums in Wonju and Seoul.
• Borimsa - in Jangheung county
• Bulgapsa - in Yeonggwang county

• Daewonsa - in Boseong county. This area is reknowned for its scenic beauty, especially when the cherry trees are in bloom, as well as for the Tibetan museum on site.
• Dalseongsa (Mokpo) - in Mokpo city
• Dogapsa - in Yeongam county
• Dorimsa - in Gokseong county

• Gaecheonsa - in Hwasun county
• Geumdunsa - in Suncheon city
• Geumgoksa - in Boeunsan, Gangjin-eup. Geumgoksa has a notable 3-story pagoda (pictured) and an impressive stone entrance.
• Geumhosa - in Naju city
• Geumtapsa - in Goheung county
• Gosansa - in Jangheung county
• Goseongsa - in Boeunsan, Gangjin-eup. This small temple was briefly the home of exiled scholar Dasan.

• Haksansa (Suncheon) - in Suncheon city
• Hansansa - in Yeosu city
• Heungguksa (Yeosu) - in Yeosu city
• Hwaeomsa - in Gurye county, near Jirisan
• Hyangiram - in Yeosu city, Hyangiram is on Geumosan mountain and overlooks Impo Village and the South Sea. A sunrise festival is held each year on New Year's Day.
• Hyangrimsa - in Suncheon city

• Jeongsusa - in Gangjin county. Though few structures remain on this old site, the area was once a center for celadon production in Daegu-myeon.
• Jeongwangsa - in Naju city
• Jungheungsa - in Gwangyang city

• Mihwangsa - in Haenam county, near 땅끝. This fairly large site has over a dozen structures and is a short distance away from "Land's Edge," the southern-most point on peninsular Korea.

• Nammireuksa - in Gangjin county. Nammireuksa has a large seated Buddha statue that is visible from the nearby highway.

• Omcheonsa - in Gangjin county. The most notable features of Omcheonsa are the 3,000 loose-stone pagodas piled all over the temple grounds.

• Yaksasa - in Muan county. Yaksasa dates to the 10th century and has a large multi-tiered stone pagoda.
• Yeongoksa - in Gurye county
• Yongcheonsa - in Hampyeong county
• Yonghwasa (Damyang) - in Damyang county. A fairly large site located a short walk from the bus terminal.
