Several hermitages are connected with Magoksa. They include: Baengnyeonam, Buyongam, Cheongnyeonam, Daewonam, Eunjeogam, Togulam, and Yeongeunam.
A rare bright-green orchid, gorancho, said to have been discovered and named by Wonhyo, grows on stream rocks in front of the temple.
The area of this temple was considered to be one of the Shipseungjiji, or ten safest areas of Korea. The Korean nationalist Kim Ku was known to have hidden from the Japanese here. He is said to have planted some Chinese Juniper trees still standing at the temple.
Near the temple is Magoksa Jangseung Park [1] and Magok-oncheon.
