막걸리 (makgeolli)
A thick, milky rice beer. Traditionally drunk by farmers as a source of energy, though its efficacy is doubtful. Sold widely and very cheap, it is a unique alcoholic beverage. On rainy days, Koreans are said to enjoy drinking makgeolli with pajeon. In Hongdae, makgeolli is sold by a amiable ajossi who wanders the streets pulling a cart filled with bottles. Due to the severeness of the makgeolli hangover, it is not just his unique character that makes him memorable.
